We’ve been dreaming about this day and planning this adventure for a long time now.

We had built a large house in the middle of the woods back in 2016, but our six children have slowly been moving out and getting married. There was no longer a reason for such a big house now that there were only five of us. Plus we had been dreaming of a piece of property where our parents and our children could build their own forever homes with us if they wanted to!

We had several epic fails when we were selling our big house. But finally, it sold, and we had found our dream property. It looked like we were on our way…

But then… inflation. It’s a bummer all the way around. The housing market boomed in our area and no one was available to sub-contract for our project. So many were actually too busy to even give us a bid! Add that to the frustration of the “back woods” county that we are building in and the permit/application process that moves at a snail’s pace and you realize that nothing is going to happen “quick.”

Content to start clearing the land ourselves, we began cutting down trees and clearing brush from the pasture we were going to use for the house.
